Grand Master Sam Guner

Founder and Head Instructor

Grand Master Serdar “Sam” Guner was born in 1981 in Wollongong, Australia, and raised in Vienna, Austria. He began his Taekwondo journey at the age of 9 under Grand Master Sascha Osterman, and achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt in 1996 at just 15 years old.

After moving back to Australia in 1998, Sam represented Australia at State, National, and International competitions from 1998 to 2004. In 2005, he founded DOS Taekwondo with a singular vision: to build an academy unlike any other.

Under his leadership, DOS Taekwondo has grown from a single location to four studios across Sydney, training over 1,000 students. His approach goes beyond physical technique. Students develop not just as martial artists, but as people, building discipline, mental resilience, and the confidence to succeed in every area of life.

Grand Master Guner believes that the true value of Taekwondo lies in what it develops in the person. Physical fitness and self-defence capability are just the beginning. The real reward is the discipline, resilience, and confidence that students carry into every part of their lives.

His commitment to this philosophy is reflected in every class at DOS Taekwondo, from the youngest Little Tigers through to adult black belts.
